The Republican candidates may be stealing the spotlight. But according to National Journal’s Major Garrett, there’s another heavyweight campaign going on right in plain view. On any given night, there are dozens of Obama reelection events all over the country — in swing states, in red states, and even in deep blue states like California. In 2012 as in 2008, Obama’s organizers are determined to make every vote count and leave nothing to chance. And as The Atlantic’s Molly Ball points out, in the age of Facebook and Twitter, the enthusiasm generated in a city like San Diego can energize voters in Milwaukee or Little Rock.
In this video, Garrett and Ball talk about what the Obama campaign does best — and what they’re doing now to prepare for the fight ahead.
