On the heels of speeches by Ann Romney and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Day Two of the Republican National Convention belongs to Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan.
USA TODAY is providing full coverage of the gathering aimed at revving up support for Mitt Romney. Check your local TV listings for when you can catch the events.
Here is our guide to the five things to watch on Wednesday, Aug. 29:
1) Paul Ryan will deliver his acceptance speech in the 10 p.m. hour of programming. Best known for his budget and fiscal prowess, the seven-term congressman has brought energy to the GOP ticket. But Ryan’s proposals to overhaul Medicare will be a dominant theme through Election Day.
2) There was a ruckus on the convention floor yesterday from supporters of Ron Paul, a Texas congressman who fell short in his third bid for the presidency. Paul isn’t speaking from the podium, but he’ll be honored with a video tribute expected during the 7 p.m. hour. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a Tea Party favorite and the Texan’s son, will address delegates during that hour.
3) Four years ago, the GOP convention was all about presidential nominee John McCain. A onetime maverick and now a respected party statesman, the Arizona senator has been an enthusiastic Romney surrogate. He’s slated during the 8 p.m. hour.
4) Two familiar Republican names aren’t attending Romney’s celebration: George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. The elder Bush has health issues and the younger one has tried to stay out of the political spotlight. The 41st and 43rd presidents will be paid a tribute via a short film in the 9 p.m. hour.
5) Condoleezza Rice never thought of herself as being very political, but the former secretary of State has been helping Romney raise money and wowed donors at a recent retreat. Rice and Susana Martinez, the first Latina governor of New Mexico, will speak before Ryan.
